![]() ![]() RPGBOT uses the color coding scheme which has become common among Pathfinder build handbooks, which is simple to understand and easy to read at a glance. ![]() Metamagic is the primary way that sorcerers spend their Sorcery Points, and budgeting that finite resource to get the most impact is an important part of mastering the Sorcerer. It is perhaps the best example of the Sorcerer’s philosophy on spellcasting: a few good tools, adapted as necessary to suit any situation.īut, while metamagic can be very powerful, it can also be complicated and costly. level 7 and doesn't increase casting time, but GSS has prereqs that suck less than Heighten Spell and can change what spell you use it on as you level up.Metamagic is the Sorcerer’s signature mechanic, allowing you to twist and adapt your spells to suit the needs of the moment. Preferred spell is obtainable at level 5 vs. They both do similar things, which is to allow a wizard to pick one spell and spontaneously cast it and apply metamagic. If someone knows a way to get these as a Wizard, that'd be awesome.Īdditionally, there are some feats that are just generally useful for metamagic wizards, namely Preferred Spell and Greater Spell Specialization. Not available for all metamagics, and requires multiple levels of Magus. Various Magus Arcana - Pick a metamagic and apply it for free 1/day. Obtainable by VMC, but probably not worth it by that method because of the intense feat sacrifice to get there. Meta-Rage (Metamagic Rager archetype for Bloodrager) - Apply a metamagic for free by sacrificing rounds of rage. Obtainable for the low cost of 900 gp and preparing three of the spells from the book each day. Increases casting time and must still be able to cast the spell at the level it would beīook of Harms (Preconstructed Spellbook) 1/day, apply Maximize to a spell for free by taking 1d4 damage per spell level. Sacred Geometry (Feat) (pretty broken, if your DM allows this go nuts) - Do some simple math that has a high likelihood to succeed (actually hits 100% at mid levels) to apply two metamagics for free as long as the spell level wouldn't exceed 9th. Spell Perfection (Feat) - Obtainable at Level 15, pick one spell and be able to apply one metamagic to it for free as long as the metamagic wouldn't increase the spell above 9th level Wayang Spellhunter/Metamagic Master (Regional Trait, ruled to stack with Magical Lineage) - same effect as Lineage but limited to a spell of 3rd level or lower Magical Lineage (Magic Trait) - reduces metamagic cost for a specific spell by 1 level Might be decent to craft for someone who took Craft Wondrous and not Craft Rod. Fun to find in loot, but probably not worth it to buy, as costs stack up fast. Metamagic Gems (consumable item) Single-use metamagic rods. ![]() A bit pricy gold-wise, but probably the best way to get free metamagic, especially for uncommon but handy ones like Selective. Metamagic Rods (rods, various) Getting these out of the way first, apply metamagic on the fly for free 3/day. Obviously this gets pretty limited pretty quick, so I'm looking for ways to reduce costs or get effects for free. I'm looking to build a character (exploiter wizard) who applies as many metamagic effects as he can. ![]()
